SAXOPAHTHS
4 saxophone players from Copenhagen, Denmark, have been playing together since 1994. The quartet has developed into an internationally acclaimed ensemble. Saxopaths has released 2 albums and has played numerous concerts in Denmark and abroad.
Their last album, Unfocused Welcomes, featured some of Denmark's most respected players, such as Pierre Dørge, Marilyn Mazur & Bo Stief.
The players' styles are very different, but they share a love for the naked sound of 4 saxophones and have connected in a sort of brotherhood that is very obvious on stage and on the albums.
All compositions are original, most of it composed and/or arranged by the band leader Kristoffer J. Rosing-Schow.
The constellation allows the ensemble to venture into very different genres without loosing their distinct and very recognizable sound. You'll know that you're listening to Saxopaths whether they play gothic tangos, Greek folklore, Scandinavian ballads, or funky stuff.
Kristoffer graduated from the Danish Rhythmic Music Conservatory in '98. He is often used as a composer for theatre and modern dance projects. He is also a part of the Danish/French composers collective, Contrabande.
Grand old man of Danish pop/funk saxophone. Has been around since legendary bands like Buzzstop. Wonderful warm tone which embodies the soul of the quartet.
